Mittagong Preschool is a not-for-profit community-based Preschool, catering for children 2 - 6 years of age.
The Preschool is staffed by university-qualified teachers and TAFE-qualified child care workers in a higher than required (by regulation), ratio of staff to children. In 2010, we introduced an innovative staffing-role of outdoor programmer. The staff strive for best-practice, responding to contemporary perspectives, committed to meaningful interactions with the children and families, and creating relationship-based education.
The Preschool is run by a group of voluntary parents from the parent group, with each parent a member of the association. As such, we encourage and welcome the involvement of all families.
Our aim is to provide each child with a developmentally-appropriate play-based program based on individual and group interests. We have a holistic approach to children’s education, giving equal importance to all areas of development, from thinking to creative, physical, self-concept, social and language skills. The program is offered in a family-based and community context, reflecting cultural diversity and focusing on encouraging social grouping and pro-social skills.
